Bruce,
This is Rixa (from the True Face of Birth blog). I've been enjoying your blog and really agree with your perspectives on Obama. My mom, who traditionally has been more Republican or independent leaning, is also a strong Obama supporter this time around, for many of the same reasons that you are.

I did my undergrad degree at BYU and took a lot of classes from Gloria Cronin. My husband Eric knows you, but says you probably don't know him since I don't think he had any classes with you. He did his BA and MA there in English and is good friends with Pat Madden (they did PhDs together at Ohio U), Lance Larsen, and others. Anyway thanks again for sending me to your blog.

Bruce,

It just saddens me how nasty this Election campaign has become and filled with such hatred from some extremes.

But today I was upset to read a special US friends Blog, which seemed to take just a real blinkered outlook. It contained so much bitterness, how the European socialist system like the UK and the National Health Service is so bad and wrong, how she does not want socialist hand out system for her child. I can vouch when I needed heart surgery in the UK, I received state of the art procedures and Free at the point of entry, no questions about what cover I had and if it covered everything and medication, Yes the NHS had had problems but even the best multi international companies have them.

Of course the Blog went onto question abortion and gay people in society, both emotional subjects, but often people do not know all the facts and just take one line from hearsay.

I was brought up in a loving Christian Family and I am so committed and have such strong faith, but my parents let me free and yes I made mistakes, but I was taught not to judge others, only ONE will JUDGE! and we will have meet that day.

It was 2001 when I first introduced to Barack Obama and follow his career, when a friend moved to work in the media in Chicago, and from everything I have got to know about him in these last 7 years he is not the Man that some like to paint him as, Age does not always guarantee the right experience, I just hope and pray that Barack Obama is kept safe.

Thanks for your comments, Rixa and John. Rixa, I looked at your husband Eric's picture on your blog and didn't recognize him (though I'm sure I passed him in the halls at some point). I'll pass on a hello to Pat Madden, Lance Larsen, and Gloria Cronin.

John, I believe you know or have corresponded with my wife Margaret. Am I remembering correctly? Where in the UK do you live? We'll be coming as a family in 2010. It would be nice to meet you.

Hello Bruce,

You are quite correct, Margaret and myself corresponded quite a lot, but I know she has busy busy and in fact it must be 10 months since I last heard from her? - I am waiting so patiently to see the new documentary, I hope it will be soon on DVD.

I live in-between Liverpool and Manchester, not far from The Preston Temple.

You might want to look at this, which I uploaded to Flickr this morning, and which is getting a lot of very favorable attention.

I found your blog through a friend of Rixa's. I voted McCain but I'm having a hard time sifting through truth and paranoia now that Pres. Elect Obama has been chosen. I'd like to believe that things are not going to change as drastically with Obama as some would have me believe. (ie. socialism, etc.)I'm glad your blog is out there to help me feel better about some of the things I've been hearing. Please keep it up!

I'm not a great fan of Pat Robertson (the conservative televangelist). But I think some comments he made about Obama are pretty insightful.

In an interview with Suzanne Malveaux of CNN, Robertson said:

"I am remarkably pleased with Obama. I had grave misgivings about him. But so help me, he's come in forcefully, intelligently. He's picked a middle of the road cabinet. And so far, if he continues down this course, he has the makings of a great president. So, I'm very pleased so far."
